About Sampling and Temperature Manipulators
Sampling and Temperature Manipulators
Sampling and temperature measurement are carried out by consumable cartridges introduce into the liquid steel.
Remso produces manipulators for EAF through slag door or through the roof, LF, VD and VOD with the aim to carry out a temperature measurement and to get a sample of the melted metal in a fully automatic way.
The Sampling and Temperature Manipulators control can be supervised from the control room and the results will be automatically transferred to the control system and the visual display unit.
Main Features
- One or two independent carriages moved by gear motors.
- Position of the lances monitored by encoders.
- Anti collision device to avoid any damage to the lance in case of impact with some no liquefied pieces.
- Water-cooled panel in front of the manipulator to protect it from the heat.
- Air fan to keep arm and carriages cooled.
Special Design LADLE FURNACE LF, VD, VOD
- Slag breaker to open the slag on the top of the liquid steel.
- Possibility to measure hydrogen content.
- Possibility to make measurement with ladle in vacuum condition.
- Manipulator for emergency stirring lance (designed to blow the inert gas Argon into the melted steel bath in case of failure of porous plug system).
Main Advantages
- Non-interruption of furnace operation.
- Increase of the quality and of the reliability of the measurements due to their reproducibility.
- Safety operation from remote control room.
- payback time six month.

FAQs of Sampling and Temperature Manipulators:
Q: How is the sampling process conducted with these manipulators in industrial settings?
A: The sampling manipulator is installed at the desired site using flanged or threaded connections. Operators use a manual lever or push-button to position the probe into molten metal, enabling rapid and accurate sample extraction. The ergonomic design supports repeated use with minimal operator fatigue.
Q: What is the extent of temperature range and accuracy for these manipulators?
A: These sampling manipulators can operate from 0C up to 1800C with a tolerance of 0.5 mm, making them suitable for a wide range of metallurgical processes. Their robust design ensures precise sampling and temperature measurement even in harsh industrial environments.
Q: When should these manipulators be used during the metal casting process?
A: The manipulators are typically used at key stages of the casting process when accurate temperature and material samples are required to monitor quality and composition. Their rapid response allows for timely interventions to maintain process standards.
Q: Where can these sampling manipulators be installed and used?
A: They are designed for use in foundries, steel plants, and metallurgical industries. Thanks to their movable and portable installation options, these manipulators can be positioned at various locations within a facility according to operational requirements.
Q: What maintenance is required for reliable operation?
A: Routine maintenance is minimal, largely limited to periodic cleaning and visual inspections, due to the rust-resistant finish and high-strength steel construction. This low maintenance requirement translates to enhanced uptime and reduced operational costs.
Q: What are the primary benefits of using these manipulators in industrial settings?
A: Key benefits include efficient and rapid sampling, high durability, precise temperature measurement, low maintenance, and ergonomic operation. These features contribute to improved process control, increased productivity, and consistent product quality.
