About Water Cooled Furnace Roof
Electric Arc Furnace roof is of tubular structure. Headers for outlet/inlet along with sloping tubular panels held in position with brackets and connected to headers with flexible hoses. An elbow of tubular construction is connected from the roof to the fume extraction system. All panels & headers are seamless tubes of boiler quality ASTM 106GrB. The end caps are forged. The system is tested under 10 bar hydraulic pressure.

This continuous cooling not only safeguards the roof against thermal damage but also promotes longer equipment lifespan and efficiency in high-temperature manufacturing environments.
Robust Construction and DurabilityManufactured with seamless mild steel or stainless steel pipes, the roof is hydro tested at 8-10 bar to ensure structural integrity under pressure. A special anti-corrosive paint and sandblasted finish further protect against oxidation and wear, making it ideal for continual use in demanding steel and metallurgical plants.
Tailored to Your NeedsThe design can be fully customized in terms of shape, thickness, and size to perfectly fit your furnace specification. Optional internal ceramic refractory insulation enhances passive heat resistance. Easy lifting hooks and mounting flanges facilitate hassle-free installation and maintenance, supporting a wide range of furnace capacities from 5 to 150 tonnes.
FAQs of Water Cooled Furnace Roof:
Q: How does the water cooled furnace roofs forced water circulation system work?
A: The system circulates water continuously through high-quality seamless pipes integrated into the furnace roof structure, effectively dissipating heat generated during furnace operation. This mechanism prevents overheating and ensures consistent performance even during prolonged use.
Q: What are the main materials used in the construction of the furnace roof?
A: The roof uses high-grade, seamless mild steel (MS) or stainless steel pipes, selected for their strength and thermal conductivity. Externally, a special anti-corrosive paint is applied for added protection in harsh industrial environments.
Q: When is hydro testing performed, and what does it ensure?
A: Hydro testing is conducted during production, subjecting the assembly to pressures between 8-10 bar. This stringent test verifies the integrity of the pipes, ensuring there are no leaks and that the system can safely handle operational pressures.
Q: Where is the water cooled furnace roof typically installed?
A: It is designed for installation in Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) and other high-temperature applications found in steel plants and metallurgical industries. Its customizable design allows it to fit various furnace models and sizes.
Q: What are the benefits of choosing this furnace roof?
A: Key benefits include superior heat insulation and protection for internal furnace components, efficient thermal dissipation, robust corrosion-resistant construction, customizable size and shape, minimal maintenance, and a long service life due to high-quality materials and protective coatings.
Q: How easy is it to install and maintain the furnace roof?
A: The roof is equipped with lifting hooks and mounting flanges for straightforward installation. Its design prioritizes minimal maintenance, allowing users to focus on production while reducing downtime caused by repairs or replacements.
