About Hot Metal Ladle for Steel Plant
Remso is offering an excellent quality of
Hot Metal Ladle For Steel Plant. Available sizes from 10 MT to 300 MT capacity are manufactured from IS: 2002 boiler quality plates as well as IS: 2062 plates.
DesignThe Hot metal ladle shall be of circular design with all welded construction and reinforced by two stiffener rings with special reinforcement in the area of the trunnions (similar to AISE-Standard No. 9).. The material for the ladle shell and bottom shall be Gr 2 as per IS:2002 (latest revision) or E 250 B as per IS 2062 (2006) or as per the customer specification. The bottom of the ladle shall be made of a single plate and shall be dished. The ladle shell and bottom shall be designed for a maximum operating condition of 4000C. After complete welding, the ladle shall be stress relieved.
TrunnionThe trunnion and trunnion plates of the ladle shall be made of forged steel of grade 20 C8 or 30 C8 as per IS:2004 (1991). The trunnion plate shall be annealed after forging and shall be ultrasonically tested for soundness. The forged trunnion pins are welded into the trunnion ring and into the ladle shell. Three ladle foot are welded to the ladle bottom to permit placing on ground floor.

Rugged Construction & CustomizationHot Metal Ladles feature robust shells of 18 to 40 mm thickness and high alumina lining, available in capacities from 5 to 50 tons. Designed as per IS/ASTM standards, each ladle can be customized for dimensions, steel grade, color, and pouring mechanism, ensuring an optimal fit for any plants specifications and workflow.
Efficient Manual or Gear Box OperationThe ladles incorporate user-friendly manual levers or gear-driven tilting mechanisms for precise pouring. This semi-automatic setup ensures minimal energy consumption as no electrical power is needed, offering high reliability and consistent performance in demanding steelmaking operations.
Operational Safety and LongevitySafety is prioritized with heat shields, secure locking systems, and low maintenance requirements. Ladles are designed to withstand up to 1600C, resist leakage, and maintain efficient operations, achieving service lives of 5 to 8 years depending on usage and routine inspection.
FAQs of Hot Metal Ladle for Steel Plant:
Q: How is the Hot Metal Ladle installed and commissioned at a steel plant?
A: Onsite supervision is recommended for the installation of the Hot Metal Ladle. Each unit is customized to plant requirements and should be set up on-site with the assistance of technical personnel, ensuring correct alignment of lifting bales, hooks, and the tilting mechanism for safe and efficient operation.
Q: What is the typical process for using the ladle to transport molten metal?
A: After installation, the ladle is preheated and positioned beneath the tap hole of the furnace. Molten metal is poured in, and the robust shell with refractory lining retains heat. The ladle is moved manually or with cranes to the pouring area, where manual or geared tilting mechanisms control safe discharge into molds or subsequent processing units.
Q: When should routine maintenance or inspection be carried out?
A: Routine inspections are advisable after each operational cycle to check for lining wear, residue buildup, or any signs of metal fatigue or leakage. Complete maintenance should be scheduled based on operational frequency, but typically every few weeks or after processing a set number of heats.
Q: Where is the optimal placement site for the ladle within a steel plant?
A: The ladle must be placed on dedicated ladle stands near the furnace and casting areas, allowing safe movement by cranes or material-handling systems. Proximity minimizes heat loss and reduces handling risks, optimizing the workflow from furnace to casting or further processing.
Q: What are the major benefits of using this Hot Metal Ladle design?
A: Benefits include high temperature resistance (up to 1600C), robust leak-proof construction, efficient manual or gearbox pouring control, compliance with recognized quality standards, and a service life of 58 years even under heavy industrial use. Customizability further enhances plant performance and worker safety.
Q: How does the safety system work on these ladles?
A: Safety is assured through integrated heat shields and locking systems, which protect operators from high temperatures and accidental releases. The design also features heat insulation lining to prevent energy loss and ensure structural integrity during repeated cycles.
